TUTORING
As the online/hybrid school year approaches, we believe that it is important for all students to continue to stay on top of their learning. This is why we created our all-new Adventures in STEAM tutoring program! Offering completely customizable one-on-one online tutoring sessions for students grades K-7, we can help your child with reading, writing, math, homework, supplementary schoolwork, and more! Please email us at adventuresinsteam@gmail.com to register!
What does a typical tutoring session look like?
1. Bellringer: We start off our sessions with a quick review of concepts we previously covered.
2. Look over homework: If the parent wishes, we will go over concepts and worksheets covered in school. We will help the student get started on their homework.
3. Practice, practice, practice: Finally, we will conclude by having students practice challenging questions, other topics, or review extra material from school.
How do we measure progress?
When your child starts tutoring with us, we will give them an initial pretest to assess their abilities and learning style. Once we understand where your child is struggling or needs extra help, we will curate specific worksheets and problems for them during tutoring. Every month, we will test your child again to see how far they have progressed!
How much does tutoring cost, and is there a cancellation policy?
Tutoring is $40 per student for a 60 minute lesson. We prefer that parents call to cancel at least 24 hours before their student's lesson.
How do we communicate with parents?
We will send out a weekly email to parents recapping what we did during tutoring and anything we hope your child will work on during the week. This weekly progress email is also an opportunity for parents to let us know about any concerns or inquiries they have about their child's learning.
What should you consider before signing up with a tutor?
1. What do you want your child to work on with a tutor?
2. How do you feel your child is doing in each subject?
3. Do you feel that they are struggling or not being challenged?
4. What are some areas (within each subject) that you would like your child to work on?
5. What is your child’s learning style?
6. What are some things that may have hindered their learning in the past?
7. What do you expect from a tutoring session? Would you like us to work on homework from school, get ahead on a subject, cover new topics, etc?
